Training

We long to see students trained and equipped to serve the local church both now and into the future when months of holiday and long lie-ins are a thing of the past.

God by his Spirit has given all Christians different gifts to serve his people. We aim to encourage all students to use their gifts to best serve the gospel wherever they are.

Two particular initiatives are MAP and Ministry Minded

MAP:

MAP stands for Ministry Apprenticeship Programme and is a one or two year scheme designed for those who are keen to explore the possibility of full-time Christian work at some stage in the future.

The Apprenticeship programme is a full-time scheme aimed at those of graduate age or older and it consists of three main parts:

  • Training in how to understand and teach the Bible
  • Practical ministry opportunities in various contexts
  • Serving in important but often unseen practical tasks

Shirley Emms is an Apprentice this year:

"MAP is a mix of labour and joy. I'm grappling with the labour of teaching God's Word, juxtaposed with the joy of seeing people grow in Christ. All the while, I'm being offered excellent support in training and an opportunity to reflect on my mindset and gifts in relation to ministry - a privilege."

Ministry Minded:

Raising up Gospel Workers for Today's Harvest

Ministry Minded organises conferences to help and encourage men and women of all ages and stages of the Christian life to consider serving the Lord Jesus in full-time paid gospel ministry some time in the future. It is particularly aimed at helping individuals consider their future and the pressing need for gospel workers.
