Kenya mission 2007

Who is going?

A group of 13 students from St Stephens and one young lady from Holy Trinity. Barry and Shirley Emms are leading the team. We are leaving the 1st December and returning the 22nd December.

Why are we going?

~Matthew 28 : 18-19~
Take the gospel to all the nations.
~Ephesians 4 : 11~
Building the body up though works of service.
This is great way for students to actively be serving in cross-cultural missions. Many are considering full time ministry and seeing if mission work is an area where they could themselves serve.

What will we be doing?

At this point in time we will be assisting with a Youth Camp of about 120 youth alongside other short termers from other parts of the world. We will then be placed in Kor with the Swanepoels to get alongside the locals and partake in the construction of a house for their one pastor who has no accommodation.

How you can help us?

Prayer

You can pray for us on a regular basis. You can request a monthly prayer guide to help you do that. You can form part of a Core Prayer Team who will be praying for the team for the duration of their trip. They will also be an established liaison to communicate with the church.

Financially

We are looking to raise R160 000. We have already brought in R45 000 so far which is a great encouragement but we are looking for a deficit of R115 000. This may appear daunting, but one needs to bear in mind giving sacrificially and generously will look different for everyone. You can do this best by depositing money into St Stephens Church account with it clearly marked:

Kenya Mission
St Stephens Church
Standard Bank Rondebosch 0250091
Acc no: 071418326

Or

Place in collection bags at the various services also clearly marked Kenya Mission.

Practically

We are looking to borrow:

  • 11 Backpacks
  • 14 Travel packs that can tie under your clothing for safety
  • 2 sleeping bags

We are also in need of:

  • 14 Hardy working gloves for construction work
  • Skirts that you are willing to never see again ( full length or ¾ )
