Council Ministry
Pastoral Staff

• Praise for their dedication and commitment
• Wisdom for their spiritual and physical health as they minister to us

Pray for

• Introducing God for people to attend, to ask questions, and to get to know & commit themselves to God
• AVM 23 May - pray for new council being elected, that they are godly & servant-hearted people
• some tricky relationships with our property neighbours being resolved at the moment
• wisdom as the council decides on financial allocations
• the means to invest in people to work in women's, men's and school's ministry opportunities
• our ongoing maturing in Christ individually and as a congregation

Children's Ministry
Friday nights

• For our new teaching series on people who met Jesus (that the children would be challenged to make a decision about Jesus)
• For our leaders (that they will be faithful, godly and good stewards of their time for their families as well)

Sundays

• For our new series in Psalms, that we would be clear in our teaching and that the children will trust in the Lord
• For the many new faces each week to stick

RBPS

• Thanks for the continued open door to the school
• That as we teach Mark, the boys will be struck by Jesus and make Him their king!

Youth Ministry

• that teens would become convinced of the gospel, believe it and live it out daily
• for our leaders continued growth as they serve
• that parents will make taking their teens to a bible study a priority
• for our small group evangelism evening happening on 28 May

Young Workers & Student Ministry

• ASK - that this evangelistic course would provide opportunities for non-Christian students to grapple with the Christian faith, and that people would be saved.
• 'THE OTHER SEX' - that this mid-week series would challenge us to treat the other sex with Christian love.
• That students would keep their eyes fixed on Jesus as exams approach and stress levels rise.
• For the few newcomers we have had, that they would settle into our community and grow in Christ
• For continued, steadfast commitment to our community despite work pressures and the flurry of the world cup.
• that students & young workers would step up their love for one another, that we would go beyond superficial relationships.

 U-Turn Ministry
Give thanks for:

• celebrate with us as 8 out of 13 participants completed our program and found work (graduating on Friday 9th April).
• a Wynberg church has agreed to partner with us on the meal voucher initiative.
• our newest volunteer Lauren. Please pray for her protection and that she may experience the full rewards associated with such service.
• Joe's return following a prolonged sick leave.

Continue to pray for:

• our first phase activities (we currently encourage 2 people a month to move off the streets into shelters).
• the practicalities associated with getting our Clothing Charity Shop ready for it's planned July opening. Particularl concern re selecting the best program participants to work in the shop as retail assistants and security guards.
• our efforts to find a building - please pray that we receive favour from those that are evaluating our building application.

APRIL 2010

Council Ministry
Pray for:

• our teaching staff - for obedience to God's word in their life and in their teaching
• the message of Easter will convict us all to understand what a great gift we have been given
• that Easter may not be just a holiday - but a time Christians come together and remember why they are who they claim to be
• for those in SS congregation who will not be with us at SS at Easter will be kept safe and will continue to worship Christ, wherever they are
• that Jesus will be honoured and glorified by us all at this time of remembrance of His execution and resurrection
• that our ministry will be funded generously from our gratitude to God for all He has done and will do for us

Children's Ministry
Give thanks:

• for a wonderful term at Kids club looking for the Promised King Jesus through 1 and 2 Kings.
• for the many new children - especially grade 1's who have joined us and stuck!
• for a term of discovering in Acts all that Jesus did after He went to heaven

Pray for:

• for our families, that they continue reading the Bible together and praying together in the holidays
• that they will use the Gospel opportunities they will have with friends and family over the Easter season.

Youth Ministry
Give thanks:

• for a leadership team who love Jesus
• for many teens who serve in our children's ministry, and those who constantly bring their friends to youth

Pray for:

• more female youth leaders
• to give our teens boldness in sharing their faith with others
• to strengthen both our christian teens and leaders in their resolve to live holy lives

 Homeless Ministry
Give thanks:

• for the changes that we have seen in the ladies attending the Bible Study with two of them attempting to get off the street

Pray for:

• Provision for necessary finances to keep U-turn going. Since July last year we've seen a steady decline in our ad hoc donations & to date the fund raising efforts have not yet delivered any significant results.
• that the City of Cape Town will soon be in the position to submit our application for the long term lease of the Powerhouse to the city council.
• that the Lord will provide U-turn with R4m to purchase a new building
• for our residents that are currently completing their U-turn training that they might be successful in their work applications.
• good support for our Open Day on Sat 24th April
• that our new volunteers from the UK, Andy and Sam will settle well into church and their new roles at U-turn

Young Workers Ministry
Pray for:

• a new term marked by growth through Gods word and a deeper love for one another
• for leaders for continued strength and perseverance in their service
• for our camp that it will be great time renewing our hope in Christ and cementing solid relationships
• for our elective forum bible study on gender issues that we would all be transformed during this time
