CROSSWORD YOUTH CAMP 2011

|
Crossword 2011 was a truly awesome camp. Our theme for this camp was God's Top 10 as Scott Tubman took us through the10 Commandments and showed us why it is still important to us, he did this by looking at them positively, saying if the commandment says we can't do this then what can we do as Christians living for our King Jesus and then worked really hard on applying it to us. Gary Bedderson also gave us talks on God's kingdom which were challenging and very helpful in understanding what how we get there and that it is only through Jesus and Him alone that we enter in and then in our morning Quality Times we looked at Jesus' sermon on the mount in the gospel of Matthew. Finally there were also really hard hitting electives this year with topics such as: Identity, Idolatry and Heaven to name a few. All in all we were well fed throughout the week on good sound Bible teaching and as a result we left there challenged and at the same time inspired.
This year we had a drop in the number of campers which could have boiled down to a lot of reasons and so going into camp we weren't really sure as leaders what to expect plus it rained (that never happens...ever). Although these things happened and seemed at first to be BIG blows to our camp they actually made it one of the best crossword camps ever, the smaller numbers meant stronger relationships were built and the rain forced everyone indoors which resulted in even more relational growth. The teens loved it and made a lot more friends than they would usually and felt a lot more comfortable than normal which was awesome for group times. One of the highlites of the camp (other than the talks) was the 11 & 12 Boys from St Stephens dominating the fun razor and winning the mini soccer tournament which really helped the group bond tighter.
Crossword camp as it always is was great, but in my humble opinion this was one of the best we have had in the few years I have attended, so if you missed out in 2011 make sure to not miss out this year go to our camps page and check out more info about crossword.
