Getting Involved! Being part of the church family offers numerous opportunities for you to serve your fellow congregation members. It also provides the forum for meeting others and sharing in ministry together. Why not get involved by contacting the relevant leader and finding out more:
Our prayer chain exists to pray for the needs and concerns of the church family. If you wish us to pray for anything in particular, contact the leader below, who will forward the request down the chain, in confidence. Should you wish to join this prayer chain please also contact the Leader.
Leader: Paddy Paris Being a new mom can be a daunting experience! So why not join our group of new moms and share your questions, knowledge and experiences, and do bring your little ones along. We meet for coffee and an informal chat every Wednesday morning 10:00-11:30am at the Youth Centre, while the little ones play in their adjoining play area. For more information contact the Leader.
Leader: Tracey Gertzen We also have a team of people who cook meals for new moms, who need all the rest they can get! Should you like to join this team please contact the leader below. Leader – Meals for Mums: Natasha Curry Arise is a Christian initiative dedicated to caring for the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of vulnerable children. Arise is committed to thinking stragetically and strives to work with the community to bring hope. There are a number of ways in which you could volunteer with this organisation, which works alongside St Stephens. Leader: Debbie Burt U-turn is also a Christian outreach to the homeless in the greater Claremont area. This organization aims to assist the homeless through s three-pronged approach of making contact with them, rehabilitating them, and then facilitating their reintegration into the community. Leader: Sam Vos St Stephens endeavours to support various missionaries as they take the gospel to various parts of the world. Our missions board cares for these missionaries through regular financial and prayer support, and by retaining regular encouraging communication with them. We also continue to raise the profile of missions amongst congregation members via our church bulletin board, missions inserts in the weekly bulletin, arranging speaking opportunities for visiting missionaries, etc. Should you wish to support this cause contact the Leader.
Leader: Janella van Beeck & Wendy Hurworth Our music team consists of musicians and singer who enjoy making music together, for God’s glory. We serve at the 3 Sunday services on rotating teams, and rehearse on Thursday evening. If you sing or play an instrument and would like to serve in this way please contact the Leader.
Leader: David Stevenson There will always be admin – even at church. We have various ad hoc or regular administration needs including folding weekly bulletins and afternoon reception duty, so if you feel your skills could be of use, do contact the Church Administrator
Leader: Velma Bedderson Flowers brighten up our church building and point us to our loving creator God. If you enjoy flower arranging, or have time on Monday mornings to distribute flowers to members of the congregation needing some encouragement, do contact the Leader to be added to this roster.
Leader: Lyn Wilson In order to run a smooth service we require the skills of a number of volunteers, each serving on a roster basis. These include: 1. Door Stewards 2. Welcome Duty 3. Bible Readers 4. Tea/Coffee duty after each service 5. Library assistants after 9:30am service 6. Creche helpers 7. Money Counters 8. Communion Stewards 9. Sound Operators 10. Computer Display Operators Should you be available to serve on a roster basis in any of these positions, contact the Church Administrator, who will put you in touch with the relevant Leader. Leader: Velma Bedderson As a church family we take the biblical command to care for one another seriously. This group exists to provide material and other support to those congregation members in need. Should you know of any such in need, or if you wish to volunteer your services with this group, contact the Leader.
Leader: Niel Rossouw Occasionally we require volunteers to prepare and deliver meals to congregation members who are sick or in crisis. You would be contacted by the leader if you services are needed. Alternatively we require volunteers to cook on a regular basis for our weekly student and young adult bible study groups, who meet at church over a meal. To be included in this roster, also contact the relevant Leader.
