BRUCE & TRICIA NYGAARD (The Navigators)
Please pray for Bruce & Tricia Nygaard as they lead the Navigator ministry. The Navigators is a disciple-making ministry that seeks to share the gospel with people, disciple those who come to faith and teach them how to do the same with others.
Currently there are 3 staff couples ministering among students at UCT, UWC and Abbott's College. There are also a number of graduates who've found jobs locally and continue to help with the ministry.
Bruce & Tricia train new staff in Cape Town and also travel to Durban & Jo'burg to coach younger staff.
Please pray:
- for many to come to faith as they share Christ.
- for new disciples to be established and learn to live Christ-centred lives.
- for mature disciples to learn to disciple others.
- for Bruce & Tricia to lead with wisdom and joy.

The missions team have had an active year and feel that the interest in missions among the congregation has increased. Regular e- mail contact is kept with all our missionaries and the news shared each Sunday evening before prayer. Two of the missionaries we support as a church visited us this past year: Sydney Witbooi and Grant Swanepoel. We look forward to Sandy Willcox visiting us for a number of weeks in Sept/ Oct.
Our weekly prayer meeting at 6.15pm on a Sunday has grown in size and the once a term prayer and pudding meeting has also increased in number, with more youth attending. The monthly missions focus during the Sunday Service continues. Caron Jacka does a wonderful job of updating the missions notice board.
Alexa Martin, her brother and friend went on a short term mission to Kenya at the end of 2009. The congregation is to be thanked for contributing so generously to this trip and to the parcel we sent with her.
We have had 2 visiting speakers from MECO, The Correia family from Lebanon and Tanya Jarvis, one of the local representatives. We also had a visiting speaker from the Dorothea Mission. We hope to have to opportunity to invite more visiting mission speakers in the coming year. We encourage anyone interested to join the prayer meeting every Sunday at 6.15 pm in the committee room. We would also like to ask the congregation to pray for missionaries to be raised up out of our own congregation.
Banking details of all our missionaries are available from Velma at the church office if anyone would like to contribute directly to them. However, the missions donation envelopes are also always available at the back of the church. |
