“A new Christian book club for women wanting to live more in line with God's design for them, as women”

Over the last year, the ladies in the St Stephen's Design book club have been spending time reading & discussing the book called "God's Design for Women", by Sharon James. It might have been a long project, but it has been a wonderful opportunity to think through in depth how God intends us to live as ladies in the here & now. This being in relation to our spouse, family, as a single woman, in the work place, & in the church.

We have had up to 70 ladies meeting in a number of groups each month having fellowship together & discussing this book. The over-riding feedback that we have had about Design overall is: how much ladies have valued meeting & getting to know women of different ages in the church who they wouldn't normally have met.

So, what about Design in 2010?

Well, whether you are a lady who has been part of Design this year or not, if you are interested in getting to know other ladies from St Stephens, having fellowship together & being challenged, & encouraged in your walk with the Lord as you read & discuss some good Christian books-

This is the plan:

In 2010 we are going to have 2 options for you to choose from, both once a month on a Monday evening:

1. The 1st option will be to join a Design group that runs pretty much like any other book club. Everyone will read different books, there will be different books to discuss & choose from, & there will be plenty of time to chat & have fellowship together.
2. The 2nd option is to be part of a Design group that will run very much like the book clubs this year where within the group everyone will read the same book & discuss it. The pace will be faster than that of 2009, however, since we will read a new book perhaps once a quarter.

JULY 2009

If you are a lady between the ages of 18 & 100 years old there are 4 good reasons to join Design:

1. to read & discuss good Christian books
2. to be encouraged & challenged as to how you can live out your life knowing, loving & serving Christ more effectively
3. for fellowship with Christian ladies of different ages
4. to learn from older & younger Christians

The Design Book club started in April of this year & meets once a month in people's homes on a Monday evening from 8– 9.30pm. Unlike most book clubs we all read the same book at the same time, & until the end of the year that book is  “God's Design For Women” by Sharon James. So, you just need to be prepared to read a few chapters each month & then come willing to chat & have fellowship with other ladies. Since we are taking a few months to read just one book it also means that you spread the cost of the book over a few months.
