Jesus Christ is one of the most influential men to have ever lived. His influence is seen in cities across the globe where church spires often tower over city skylines. His influence on politics and law continues thousands of years after he lived. Today graveyards are littered with crosses, a symbol that many people choose to mark the place of a loved one’s remains. His ethics reach into every sphere of life, influencing such diverse subjects as marriage, abortion, conservation and justice.  People have claimed all sorts of things for him and done the most extraordinary things in his name. These things have been a paradox; some have been excellent while others have been horrendous. Just on a billion people in the world today, would in some way, use the label Christian to describe themselves.

But who was this Jesus? Is he simply an outdated religious figure? Was he a good man – perhaps even a religious genius? What did he actually say that has kept people captivated for so many years? What did he claim for himself? Why do people still follow him?
